A More Perfect Union Series

Definitely 5 Stars
I received this book from the touring host for an honest review.
There is so much depth within this book that it is hard to single out something specific but the author did an excellent work combining the historic overview with the struggles of women of that time period and their quest to learn. The story takes you back in time when America was in war with England and the women were left to do the best they could under the circumstance while it was still expected to be wife, mother and housewife without knowing about politics or the world. The main character, Emily, had a hard time adapting to the norm and struggled to be recognized in her own right as a woman of means and intellect. When her twin sister died and left her with an infant her struggles became more obvious as she had to act as a mother while maintaining her own independence. The dualistic nature of a woman was touched and written with empathy which made this story believable and realistic.
Between everything her traitorous heart fell in love with a very handsome Captain which added to the explosive mix allowing for more drama and passion and you wonder what side will win this fight within her.
Truly a marvel to read and I loved every minute of the story. It was well written, descriptive with a good flow that allows you to really get lost in the pages.
Thanks for the opportunity.
