Immortals by Ednah Walters, Give away and Review

"He kissed me, and I felt the smile on his lips. Soon, I was lost in him. His scent became the air I breathed, his taste the nectar on my lips, and his muscles musical instruments to my caresses. Kissing him was like eating a forbidden delicacy, and I never wanted to stop."   Raine

BLURB

Nothing can stop Raine Cooper when she wants something… Raine finally knows that her gorgeous neighbor, Torin St. James, is a legend straight out of Norse mythology, and that her feelings for him are strong. Torin is crazy about Raine too, breaking the one rule he lives by: Never fall for a mortal. The problem is he no longer remembers her, his memories erased by Norns—Norse destiny deities—to punish her for defying them. She will make Torin forget his one rule a second time and fall in love with her all over again. But she quickly learns that well-laid plans do not work when dealing with deities and supernatural beings. Desperate, Raine makes choices that could not only tear her and Torin further apart, but lead to the destruction of everything and everyone she loves.

EXCERPT

“Hey, you’re crushing my ribs,” he teased. “I missed you guys.” I stepped back and grinned sheepishly. “Oh, that explains the endless phone calls and texts,” he teased. “Don’t they have reception on those boats?” Cora laughed. “I asked her the same thing. Gotta go. See you two later.” She hugged me again then briefly squeezed Eirik’s hand, their fingers lingering. Eirik noticed my gaze on their hands and flushed, but Cora was already racing back toward the stairs. Maybe I didn’t have to play Cupid after all. “We need to talk,” Eirik said, drawing my attention back to him. “Yes, we do.” We never officially ended our attempt at being boyfriend and girlfriend. It was time for me to bow out. He and Cora would be great together. “After school?” “I’ll stop by tonight.” He threw me another grin. I waved, turned and looked toward the end of the hallway where I’d last seen Torin and Lavania, but they were gone. In fact, the hallway was empty. I entered my classroom. “It’s nice to have you back, Ms. Cooper,” Mrs. Bates, my math teacher said, eying me with narrowed eyes from above the rim of her glasses. “I’m sure you haven’t forgotten I can’t stand tardiness in my class.” “I didn’t forget, Mrs. Bates,” I said. “Good. We have two new students, so use any empty desk.” Lavania smiled at me from my old position at the front of the class. I gave her a tiny smile. An empty desk was by Torin’s. Our eyes met. He studied me as though I was a new species he couldn’t figure out. “Don’t keep the class waiting, Ms. Cooper. Please, take your seat.” Exhaling, I made my way to the back of the class. Students turned and stared. The ones near my desk leaned away as though to put as much distance between them and me as humanly possible. My face red, I slid behind my desk and pulled out my textbook. I had no idea how much I had missed, but I was sure it was a lot.

My 5 Star REVIEW

I received the book from the Tour Host for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Runes Series, and at first I was at a loss since I have not read the first book, but as the story unfolded it became clear, and I could enjoy the read. The author giving you flashbacks from book one throughout the book.
Interesting and entertaining the story developed on a fast pace thread and you are drawn into the lives of seventeen year old Raine and her friends. Learning to cope after the ordeal of a serious incident at school and the consequences that followed. I found Raine a remarkable young woman with so much love to give, fighting for those she loved. Her wit and stubbornness made her a caring individual that was not ashamed to stand up for what was right. All her friends benefited from this, but at the end she had to admit that one friend was not whom she seems to be and that derailed her for awhile until her tenacity raised and the day was won.
Torin, sexy hunk, gentleman, caring, honest, protective with enough heated love to make a girl swoon. He is that good **smile**. His Valkyrie skills made him stand out above the crowd with enough arrogance to either clock him over the head or smile at his cockiness. Their love conquering the loss as they got to know each other once again.
Eirik, Raine's a long time friend had his own demons to confront, his life the plot of the book. His heritage a burning question as intriguing scenes build ever slowly to give you a glimpse of the person he is. At the end Raine's undying love for her friend saved him and Cora, reaffirming that friendship is strength you can count on, no matter the odds.
I loved the quirky comebacks of Andris, friend of Torin, and a Valkyrie. Saving the day and a unexpected shoulder for Raine. Lavania, trainer and friend, the 3 Norns which always stayed at the back but caused commotion and confusion where ever they went. Her parents, the strength they betrayed, supported Raine as her own destiny unfolds, and helped her to stay steady.
Each element and character add up to the story as it came alive on the pages as you learn about the gods in Mythology, deities, Valkyries and seeress, each brought their own unique twist to the plot line. Not stopping until you came to the final page. With enough suspense to keep you guessing.
